Licence Terms

This page explains what you can and cannot do with a licence you buy from Best News Theme. It applies to every theme and CMS in the Store. It is a summary written in plain language, and it forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

The licence at a glance

• One licence = one website at a time. A licence key may be active on one website (one domain) at a time.
• Lifetime. The licence does not expire and you can use the product for as long as you like.
• Lifetime updates. Every new version of the product is free for the life of the licence.
• 1 year of support from the date of purchase. After that you can buy more support from your account.
• You can move it. To use the licence on a new website, first disconnect the old website in your account, then activate the key on the new website.

What you can do

• Use the product on one website that you own, or on one website that you build for a client.
• Change the design, text and settings of the product for your own website.
• Use the product to publish any lawful content, and earn money from that website with advertising, subscriptions or sponsorship.
• Keep a backup copy of the files for your own use.
• Edit the code of the product for your own website. Please keep the licence files untouched (see below).

What you cannot do

• Use one licence on more than one website at the same time.
• Sell, share, rent, lend, give away or publish the licence key, or the product files, on its own or inside another product, template or marketplace.
• Remove, bypass, copy or change the licence check or the files in the licence folder, or help someone else do so.
• Claim that you created the product, or remove our name from the product files.
• Use the product to publish unlawful content, or to harm others.

Working for clients

If you are a freelancer or an agency, you may install the product on a client's website. The licence is then for that website, so every client website needs its own licence. It is best to buy the licence in the client's name or to transfer it to them by disconnecting your website and activating the key on theirs.

Local and test copies

Use your licence key for your live website. If you work on a local or test copy, disconnect the live website first or use a separate licence. A key cannot be active on two websites at once.

Licence and the GNU GPL

Our WordPress themes contain code that is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL), as WordPress requires. The GPL governs the code. The licence key, updates, support and the licence service are separate services that we provide to paying customers under these terms, and the licence key and these services are not under the GPL.

What happens if the licence is misused

If we find that a licence key has been shared, resold or its check has been bypassed, we may switch off premium features, stop updates and support, and cancel the licence without a refund.

Support, updates and downloads

Updates are free for life. You can download the latest version from your account at any time. Our CMS can also update itself from its admin panel. Support covers help with using the product as described in its documentation and fixing bugs in the product. It does not cover custom development, third-party plugins, hosting problems or content creation.
